An Inner Light
April 19, 2015Should and Addiction
May 2, 2015This statement is so interesting to me: “All it takes is a dollar and a dream”. Sounds simple doesn’t it? A little bit of money and an idea can take you places! WOW!
Most of us have dreams galore. Coming up with ideas is the easy part. It is the dollar piece that can complicate things. There are a number of interesting questions which arise around money when examining this concept. Those questions include the following:
- What is your relationship with money?
- What emotions are tied into your interaction with money?
- What did you observe as a child about how to manage money?
- When you have money what do you do with it?
- What do you believe money affords people?
- How would life be different if you had more money?
- What will it take to have more money?
Certainly there are many more issues surrounding money then the questions listed above. Money can be a major issue particularly with people who are dealing with addictions. Did you know that money is said to be the primary cause of gambling relapse? People are more inclined to gamble if they have money or a credit/debit card in their pocket. Talk about people owning that statement, “All it takes is a dollar and a dream”!
There are so many statements people make about money. For example: “Money makes the world go round”; “Money is the root of all evil”; and “Money is power”. Can you think of others you have heard and which may have impacted your life?
The truth of the matter is that money is just money. Most of us work to earn it, save for our retirement and hopefully have enough to pay our bills. If there is a little left over we each get to make our own decisions about what we do with that extra money. So maybe you have a dream…..remember “All it takes is a dollar and a dream”!
“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”― Eleanor Roosevelt
