Tradition vs Superstition
February 1, 2014The Steps After the Steps
February 13, 2014There are so many times in life that we feel like giving up. The motivation to continue on with our task just seems too overwhelming. Statistically most people will “give up” as it is just too difficult to continue to reach for a goal in a consistent manner. Those folks dealing with addiction will recognize this all too often. There is nothing more difficult than giving up one’s addiction regardless of the addiction!
With the Olympics going on we are all in awe of those wonderful athletes who have sacrificed time and relationships in order to reach such a monumental goal. What do those people have that the rest of us often seem to lack? For years they will train to master their skills and most of us are unable to last two weeks in adjusting a behavior. All of us mortals can learn a thing or two from any of those Olympic athletes.
The real problem isn’t that you don’t feel like taking action. Rather, it’s the underlying assumption that you need to feel like taking action before you can act. So here is my question to you all: How do you gear yourself up for getting things done when the spark of enthusiasm isn’t there? It is important to stay away from the de-motivators in your life. Find what is important to you and the motivation will be present! Good luck to us all!
